Republican (nationalist) President Lincoln signs the Revenue Act of 1865: Increasing the number of personal “income” tax brackets from two to three;

• Increasing the lowest personal rate on amounts earned over 600 Dollars earned from 3% to 5%; and
• Increasing the highest personal rate on amounts earned over 10,000 Dollars from 5% to 10% on amounts earned over 2,000,000 Dollars.
