Byran K. Uyesugi (having just learned he was about to be fired) shoots up a Xerox office (killing seven of his fellow workers), in Honolulu, (republic of) Hawaii.
NOTE: Following the tragedy, several gun control advocates call for statutes requiring gun licensing and registration for all state residents. Although the republic already has such statutes in effect. It cannot be said, as in New York City, and the District of Columbia, that guns are being smuggled in from adjoining states with more lax gun control statutes, as Hawaii is three thousand miles from the nearest state, or nation.
