While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” Mick Cochran, Principal of Joshua (government-run public) High School, in Joshua, texas, orders the microphone cut off when Remington Reimer, class Valedictorian, attempts to deviate from the speech he had been directed to give: “… yesterday, I was threatened with having the mic turned off and …” this is the text Reimer was attempting speak:
We are all fortunate to live in a country where we can express our beliefs, where our mics [sic] won’t be turned off, as I have been threatened to be if I veer away from the school-censored speech I have just finished. Just as Jesus spoke out against the authority of the Pharisees and Sadducees, who tried to silence him, I will not have my freedom of speech taken away from me. And I urge you all to do the same. Do not let anyone take away your religious or Constitutional rights from you.
Reimer had already accepted an appointment to the U.s. Naval Academy.
Questions:
- Why does Reimer think he is defending the Constitution for the united States by joining the U.s. Armed forces?
- Who cut off the microphone the communist governments of Cuba or the People’s Democratic Republic of (North) Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Taliban or Principal Mick Cochran?
- If the U.s. Armed Forces are defending freedom, why are we losing it?
