Henry I (r. 1100 – 1135) ascends to the throne upon the mysterious hunting death of his brother William II (r. 1087 – 1100).  Henry pledges to respect the rights of the barons and the Catholic Church, as well of the laws of Edward the Confessor (r. 1042 – 1066).
