John E. Potter, postmaster general of the United States, unveils the “USA First Class FOREVER” stamp.  The forever stamp is the first inflation-proof (albeit legal tender as opposed to lawful money) currency in three-quarters of a century.  No matter what price at which the stamp is purchased in ever depreciating (inflation) Federal Reserve Notes (Bills of Credit) the stamp will always cover mailing a one-ounce, first class letter—FOREVER!  The stamp also features the Liberty Bell, as opposed to the United States flag.
