United states Army Sergeant Omar L. Mora and Staff Sergeant Yance T. Gray (private mercenaries) die in a vehicle collision, in Baghdad, Iraq. Mora and Gray had been two of seven Soldiers who wrote “The War as We Saw It,” a New York Times opinion piece critical of U.S. policy in the Iraqi-American War.
