       While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” Michael Hastings dies when his automobile explodes after crashing into a tree in Los Angeles, california.  Hastings had been working on an article for Rolling Stone magazine, exposing the unlawful activities of the Central Intelligence Agency.  City firemen and statute enforcement officers on the scene are sworn to secrecy not disclose their knowledge of the incident.

       Postscript: The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office ordered Hastings’ body cremated–against his family’s wishes–presumably to prevent the family from having a second and private autopsy performed that would have conflicted with the conclusions of the government autopsy.
