Prince Fumimaro Konoe, Prime Minister of the Empire of Japan, dismisses Admiral Yosuke Matsuoka, as Foreign Minister, and replaces him with the more conciliatory Admiral Teijiro Toyoda in the hopes that he will be able to peacefully reach a solution over diplomatic differences with the United states.
