The Federal court for the southern district of california hands down United states v. Penkwitz: sentencing Suzan Penkwitz to six and a half years in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin—even though the judge and the prosecution knew Penkwitz was innocent.  The only evidence against Penkwitz was the conflicted testimony of Penkwitz’ associate who initially confessed to being the sole trafficker, but then changed her story in exchange for a plea bargain.
