The tenth judicial circuit court, of Polk County, florida, hands down state v. Melendez, sentencing Juan Roberto Melendez-Colon, to death for a murder he did not commit.  The primary testimony against Melendez came from David Luna Falcon, who had personal rancor against Melendez.  Furthermore, Melendez had an airtight alibi, and a month before the trial began another man had already confessed to the murder.

       Postscript: Melendez spent 17 years on death row before he was exonerated.
