Woe unto you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge.
—- Luke 11:52
The superior court, of Berkshire County, massachusetts hands down commonwealth v. Baran, sentencing Bernard F. Baran, Jr., to three consecutive life terms for the crime of child rape—crimes that he did not commit; Daniel A. Ford, the prosecutor in the case, was withholding exculpatory (proof of innocence) evidence from the defense.
Postscript: In 1989 Ford became a superior court judge. Baran was incarcerated until 2006; he died in 2014. And Ford remained a judge.
