A Hez`bAllah (Arabic for “Party of God”) suicide bomber crashes the gates at the United states Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, killing not only himself, but also 62 department of state employees (Federal workers)—seventeen of whom are Americans.

       We have to ask, “What did the U.S. do to provoke this response?”  Why does the U.S. have Embassies in so many hostile nations?  Why do some people feel they must give their lives to assault the U.S. by murdering others?  Were these bloody assaults on the U.S. common before the end of WW II?  Are they happening to Switzerland?  No?  I wonder why … Is the U.S. doing something the Swiss federation is not doing?  Were we minding our own business, or, was this the blowback from some other misadventure on the path to empire? –– JL
