Democratic (socialist/fascist) President Truman announces the atomic fission bombing of Hiroshima, Japan:

       Sixteen hours ago an American airplane dropped one bomb on Hiroshima, an important Japanese Army base. …

       The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl Harbor [a military base].  They have been repaid many fold [sic].  And the end is not yet.  With this bomb we have now added a new and revolutionary increase in destruction to supplement the growing power of our armed forces.  In their present form these bombs are now in production and even more powerful forms are in development. (emphasis added)

       NOTE: Truman lied about the military significance of Hiroshima.  The city of 300,000 had not been bombed previously because it was of no military value; there was no significant armaments manufacturing going on there.  Rather the city was picked because it had not been bombed, and would make a demonstration of the U.s.’ nuclear monopoly to intimidate the Soviet Union.
