SS-Oberscharfuhrer Karl Silberbauer arrests fourteen year-old Anne Frank, in Amsterdam, Holland, for being Jewish.  Frank’s father had applied to the United states to emigrate, but was denied by immigration quotas and regulations.

       Postscript: Seven months later, Frank died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, in Bergen, Germany.
