Emile-Ernest de Cartier, Baron de Marchienne, Ambassador to the United states from the Kingdom of Belgium, reaches an agreement with Andrew W. Mellon, secretary of the treasury, to a much easier repayment schedule for Belgium’s war debt to the U.s.  Belgium will now retire its 377,029,570.06 Dollar war debt by June 15, 1987.
