The court of civil appeals, of the republic of texas, decides Boone v. Clark: “The use of the highway for the purpose of travel and transportation is not a mere privilege but a common and fundamental right of which the public and individuals cannot rightfully be deprived.”

Ulrich Karl Christian Graf von Brockdorff-Rantzau, Foreign Minister of the (Weimar) Republic of Germany, signs the Treaty of Versailles, imposing draconian economic sanctions and reparation payments on Germany “for causing all the loss and damage” of the Great War (World War I). The treaty also obligates Germany to pay 33,000,000,000 Dollars war reparations. The treaty forbids Germany from engaging in foreign trade. Without free trade Germany is unable to earn any foreign gold to pay the eventual damages that will eventually be assessed.
NOTE: Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch, of the Army of France, expressed his doubts about the treaty saying, “This is not a peace. It is an armistice for 20 years.” Foch would die a decade before seeing his prophecy to be exactly correct.

What a catastrophe. This was the seed of Germany’s eventual hyperinflation, economic collapse and the stage setting for Hitler and the root causes of WWII. That worm, Wilson, being guided by the sinister “Colonel” House, was an active party in this horror. “Ye reap what ye sow.” This also contributed to the world wide depression of the 1920s -1940s. Which brought on Hoover’s and FDR’s even more interventionist and redistributive states; which we are living under today in 2004. –– JL
