Because of the united States’ victory at the Battle of Saratoga, Conrad Alexander Gerard, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of France, signs the Treaty of Alliance with American Ambassadors Benjamin Franklin, Silas Deane and Arthur Lee.  The TfA is a military alliance that expands the first American Revolution into a world war against Great Britain.  The four also sign the Treaty of Amity and Commerce, establishing trade relations between the two nations.

NOTE: Along with diplomatic recognition came 120,000,000 Dollars in military loans.  This raised the Continental debt to 167,500,000 Dollars.
