The Memphis, Tennessee riot of 1866 begins, as a dispute between Soldiers of African heritage and the municipal police.  State sovereign Citizens of European heritage join in on the side of the police.

       Postscript: Three days later, when peace was restored, 47 freedmen had been killed.
