The New Orleans (Louisiana) Massacre: Veterans of the Army of the Confederate States besiege a peaceful assembly of freedmen who are protesting the imposition of “Black Codes” and their denial of the elective franchise. At least 200 State sovereign Citizens and freedmen lose their lives.
