The Battle of Veracruz ends: After a three-week siege, Major General Winfield Scott, commanding the Army of Mexico of the united States, accepts the surrenders of Forts Concepción, Santiago and San Juan de Ulúa, commanded by Brigadier General Juan Estaban Morales, of the Army of Mexico.

       NOTE: This victory left the road to Mexico City open for Scott.
