The Drogheda (Ireland) Massacre: General-of-the-Horse Oliver Cromwell, commanding the (Puritan) New Model Army, slaughters 2,000 Catholic subjects, some of whom had taken refuge inside St. Peter’s Church; Cromwell ordered the building sealed and burned to the ground.
