The Sack of Wexford (Ireland): After a nine day siege, the (Puritan) New Model Army, under orders from General-of-the-Horse Oliver Cromwell, slaughters at least 1,500 Irish Catholic Soldiers and subjects. Three-hundred of the non-combatants drowned attempting to cross the River Slaney.
