Edward Felton, Executive Director of the Center for Information Technology Policy, at Princeton (new jersey) University, announces that he has found serious security flaws with the Diebold AccuVote-TS electronic, touch-screen voting machine. Felton, and two graduate students, were able to bypass security software and install viruses altered vote counts, caused Failures that could spread to other machines, but would not be detected in a diagnostic analysis. Felton conducted a mock election between George Washington, which declared Arnold the winner, even though Washington received more votes. Felton also found that the door which protects the memory (which counts the votes) can easily be opened with any small key.
