While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” the Federal court for the northern district of california hands down United states v. Reyes: judge Charles R. Breyer sentences former Chairman Gregory Reyes, of Brocade Communications Systems, to 21 months in prison, and to pay a 15,000,000 “dollar” fine, for securities fraud.  In spite of the fact that Timothy P. Crudo, assistant U.s. attorney, badgered his only witness into making a statement that she later recanted; and that Crudo made prevarications in his closing arguments.

Postscript: Seven months later Reyes’ conviction was reversed on appeal.  A year after Reyes was unjustly convicted, the U.s. Attorney’s Office decided to retry Reyes.  This is Double Jeopardy, which is prohibited by Article V of Amendment.
