Amnesty International, Cage Prisoners, the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, Human Rights Watch, and Reprieve file suit, in Federal court, under the Freedom of Information Act, seeking to know the whereabouts of 39 people they believe to “disappeared” into United states’ custody.

       Bear Stearns investment bank suspends redemptions in two of its dangerously overleveraged subprime (junk) mortgage hedge Funds.

       Postscript: A little more than a month later, BS disclosed that these funds were completely insolvent.
