The corpse of United States Army Private First Class LaVena L. Johnson (private mercenary) is found, in Balad, Iraq.  Johnson’s body had two loose front teeth, a split lip, a broken nose, a black eye, and genital burns from a corrosive chemical (to conceal DNA evidence of a rape?).  A blood trail is observed trailing from her tent to where her body was found, indicating that she had been dragged there AFTER being shot through the roof of her mouth with an M-16 rifle.

Postscript: An Army investigation concluded that Johnson committed suicide despite all of the evidence of her having been raped and murdered.  No suicide note was found.  There was no appreciable gunshot residue on her hands.  Two years later the Army continued to refuse all requests to have the case reopened.
