While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are in Afghanistan, Djibouti, Iraq, the Philippines and west Africa defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” the Superior court of the District of Columbia hands down people v. Magbie: judge Judith E. Retchin sentences Jonathan Magbie, a quadriplegic, to ten days in the Central Detention Facility for possession of marijuana.  The prosecution had asked for home detention for the first time offender, but Retchin sent him to the CDF, which did not have the proper medical equipment to help Magbie breathe.

Postscript: Magbie died four days later.
