Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

—- Isaiah 5:20

When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; when you see that money is flowing to those who deal not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get rich more easily by graft than by work, and your laws no longer protect you against them, but protect them against you. … you may know that your society is doomed.

—- Francisco d’Anconia, Atlas Shrugged

The Fair Deal/New Deal III (1949-52) continues: Democratic (socialist/fascist) President Truman signs the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1949, raising the minimum wage from 40 to 75 “cents” per hour, and abolishing child labor.  This makes it illegal to hire workers that are not yet capable of generating 75 “cents” worth of good and services per hour.

NOTE: Child labor had existed for millennia under traditional, feudal, mercantilist and capitalist economies.  It ended only because it was rendered unnecessary through increased economic productivity, not because it was made illegal.
