Marian Anderson, renowned opera singer–of African heritage–sings, in an open-air concert, at the Lincoln Memorial, in the District of Columbia.

       NOTE: “First Lady” Eleanor Roosevelt, invited Anderson to the sing at the outdoor venue, after the racist (and constitutionally illiterate) Daughters of the American Revolution refused permission for her to use their famed Constitution Hall.
