DEPENDENCE DAY—the Filipino-American War morphs into the Moro Rebellion: Commander-in-Chief Theodore Roosevelt issues Proclamation 483, issuing a pardon to all non-Moslem Filipinos fighting for the independence of their islands.

NOTE: While 4,165 Soldiers and Marines of the Army and Navy of the United States lost their lives, between 12,000 and 20,000 Filipino soldiers lost their lives, as well as 200,000 to 3,000,000 Filipino civilians.
