The ninth circuit court of appeals hands down Lightfoot v. Eu: alternative (Green, Libertarian, U.S. Taxpayers’, et cetera) parties may not nominate their candidates via party conventions but must do so through the more expensive and cumbersome voter primary as the status quo (Republican and Democratic) parties do.
