The Russian Revolution of ’90-91 continues: The Soviet Socialist Republics of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan secede from the Soviet Union and join the Commonwealth of Independent States. This leaves the SSR of Georgia as the sole remaining member of the U.S.S.R.
