The Luby’s Cafeteria massacre: George P. Hennard, a de-certified United states merchant marine, crashes his Ford Ranger pickup truck through a front window of the Killeen, texas Luby’s Cafeteria.  Armed with two pistols, Hennard begins shooting the patrons of the crowded restaurant, wounding 27, and killing 23, before committing suicide upon the arrival of municipal police.

NOTE: Among those killed are Alphonse and Ursula Gratia.  Who were eating lunch with their daughter Suzanna Hupp.  Later Hupp would recall, “My gun was 100 yards away, dutifully left in my car to obey the law because at that time in the state of [t]exas, carrying a handgun was illegal.”
