Republican (fascist/socialist) President Reagan signs The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act—the largest tax increase in American history—raising 214,100,000,000 “dollars” over the course of the next five years, taking back many of the corporate income tax savings enacted a year before.  The also increases from one to three percent, the excise tax on long distance telephone use, with a scheduled elimination in 1985.
