Democratic (socialist/fascist) President Carter signs the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, designating 104 million acres of the Federal enclave as national parks, wildlife refuges and wilderness areas. This more than doubles the size of the National Park system, and places over 28% of the Federal enclave of Alaska off-limits to its own residents.
