Roman Polanski, a Hollywood film director, flees the United states, before the Los Angeles County, california District Attorney’s Office was to have him re-sentenced for statutory rape.  Polanski had originally accepted a plea bargain of 90 days observation at a psychiatric facility, but was released after 42 days, and informed that his plea bargain had been revoked.
