Republican (fascist/socialist) governor Ronald W. Reagan, of the republic of california, signs Assembly Bill 69, creating car pool lanes, designed to reduce air pollution and limited access highway congestion by designating one lane for use by high occupancy “vehicles” (“vehicle” (a legal term for “automobiles or trucks” bearing goods, services or persons in commercial transit) only.
Postscript: after nearly 30 years of this “experiment,” traffic fatalities have increased due to widely varying speeds between car pool and single use lanes; air pollution has increased from the longer commuter times during peak usage.
NOTE: So much for conservative Republicans!
