       Jerome Goodman, using the pen name “Adam Smith,” publishes The Money Game, chapter five, of which, advances his thesis that money can be any medium of exchange agreed upon by society:

        [T]he Federal Reserve creates money all the time.  It just waves its wand of bill purchases and … presto, there is money where there was none before. .. [A]nd the Fed doesn’t even have to take the money from somewhere else in order to put that money into the banking system. .. [M]aybe the members of the Federal Reserve Board feel guilty as hell.
