The Hollywood Blacklist ends: Kirk Douglas premieres “Spartacus” a fictionalized drama of the Macedonian who led a slave revolt against the Roman Empire from 73 to 70 B.C.  Dalton Trumbo, one of the “Hollywood Ten” blacklisted screenwriters, is given public credit for writing the film’s screen play.  “Just by fighting them, we won something.  When even one man says, ‘No, I won’t,’ Rome begins to fear.  And we were tens of thousands who said it.  That was the wonder of it.”
