Commander-in-Chief Truman and General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, commander of the United Nations Far East Command, meet at the uninhapbited Federal enclave of Wake Island to discuss strategy for winning the Korean-American War. During the meeting McArthur assures Truman there is “little chance” that the Chinese will enter the war.
Postscript: Five weeks later, the People’s “Volunteer” (conscripts) Army, of China, attacked the U.N. forces.
