Blount, of the confederate State of Georgia, reports to Democratic President Cleveland that “United [s]tates diplomatic and military representatives [in the Kingdom of Hawaii] had abused their authority and were responsible for the change in government.” The report prompts Cleveland to fire John L. Stevens, Minister to the Republic of Hawaii.
