Republican (nationalist) former Senator Roscoe Conkling, of New York, one of the framers of the fraudulent 14th amendment, testifying before the Supreme Court, of the corporate United states, in San Mateo County (California) v. Southern Pacific Railroad, states that the 14th amendment was really intended to protect corporations from State regulation, instead of protecting freedmen from State usurpation of their rights.
