Republican (nationalist) de facto President Hayes (a resident of the federal enclave of Ohio) turns the presidency over to Republican de facto Senator-elect James A. Garfield (also a resident of the federal enclave of Ohio).  Hayes is giving to Garfield a national debt that has contracted from 2, 2,200,000,000 to 2,100,000,000 Dollars, going from 26 to 18% of the Gross National Product, and from 47 to 40 Dollars per person.

NOTE: The nation is still paying for the Panics of 1837 and 1857, and the War of Federal Aggression through lawful Indirect (tariffs and excise) taxes placed upon manufactured goods.
