War Democrat (constitutionalist) de facto President Andrew Johnson (a Citizen of the confederate State of Tennessee) appoints Brigadier General Lorenzo Thomas, of the Army of the united States, as interim Secretary of War. Johnson also orders the restoration of the constitutional chain of command from the military governors of the confederate States up through the Secretary of War ending with the Commander-in-Chief (President).
