The Army of Mexico executes Emperor Maximilian—under the authority of his own “Black Decree”—along with two of his generals, outside Queretaro, in northern Mexico. 

       NOTE: There was little difference between the administration of Maximilian and that of President Benito Juarez, as the Emperor had continued most of Juarez’ liberal reforms.
