The Battle of Peachtree Creek: Three days after taking command of the Confederate (a voluntary union) Army of Tennessee, Lieutenant General John Bell Hood goes on the attack against Major General George H. Thomas and his compulsory Union Army of the Cumberland, north of Atlanta, Georgia.  Hood is badly beaten and loses 2,500 Soldiers.
