While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” the Mortgage Bankers Association announces that more than 10% of all mortgage borrowers are at least one month behind in their payments–an all-time record.

       NOTES:

  • Another record that was being broken during this three-month period was the number home that were being repossessed by mortgage lenders: 269,962–an all-time high.
  • The quarter prior to this the nation’s inventory of repossessed homes as already at an all-time high of 1,100,000 up 20% from the previous year.
  • At this time risky sub-prime (junk) mortgages, which triggered the Greatest Depression, accounted for 14% of foreclosures; the remainder were sound, stable high quality mortgages, whose borrower had lost their jobs and were no longer able to service them.
