At the invitation of the Democratic/Liberal faction, William Walker, sails from San Francisco, California, along with the “Immoral Fifty-Six,” to participate in the Nicaraguan Civil War, against the Legitimist/Conservative faction.

       NOTE: Walker’s expedition cost the federal government nothing, as Congress refused to support it.
