A national junta (Spanish for “administrative council”) declares itself to the legitimate government of Chile, ruling in the name of the deposed Ferdinand VII. of Spain; as opposed to the usurper Joseph-Napoleon, who was installed by his brother Emperor Napoleon I, of France.
