The supreme court, of the corporate United states, hands down Gideon v. Wainwright, overturning Betts v. Brady: whereas in Betts the court decided—via the fraudulent 14th amendment—that states were NOT required to provide legal counsel to indigent defendants, the court now decides that—via the fraudulent 14th amendment—that states are NOW required to provide legal counsel to indigent defendants. This decision comes without consideration of what the constitution of the confederate state of florida (which is where this case originated) says about counsel for indigent defendants.
